Description
South America, Bolivia, ca. 20th century CE. A silver crown topped by a cross atop a globe intended for a Santos or Madonna of a Spanish Colonial style, hand made by the Andean silversmiths in Bolivia from high content .925 silver. A resplendor like this example would have been attached to the back of the sacred wooden figure with the curved extension. The silver corona (crown) or resplendor has been embellished with floral, foliate, and traditional Spanish colonial designs using the repoussé technique. Weight: 99.1 grams of 925 silver. Size: 3.55" W x 4" H (9 cm x 10.2 cm)
