Description
Bolivia, 20th century CE. An ornate silver crown intended for a Santos or Madonna. It has been handmade in the Spanish Colonial style, hand made by the Andean silversmiths in Bolivia from high content .925 silver. A resplendor like this example would have been attached to the back of the sacred wooden figure with the curved extension. The silver corona (crown) or resplendor has been embellished with flourishes and scrolls using the repoussé technique. A beautiful cross that looks like the New Mexico flag or the flare of a sunset is on the top. Size: 4.9" W x 5.5" H (12.4 cm x 14 cm); 164 grams
