Description
1818 Joseph Ives Mahogany 54" column with mirror clock. This is a rare, early clock, as pictured in the Richard Bishop Book on American Clocks. Joseph Ives (1782-1862), Bristol, Conn. The case is mahogany with some mahogany venner frontings. Original upper glass over the dial. Original reverse painting. Metal dial is also original with original paint. Original wooden works replaced with Victorian brass. Center mirror. The present brass clockworks are marked E.N. Welch Mfg. Co., Forestville, Conn, U.S.A. The interior retains the original smoke grain paint finish. The clock measures approx. 54" tall x 20" wide x 5 1/2" deep. Lower pendulum glass has crack in upper right corner.
