Description
A charming Greek terracotta figure of a dancing girl, Tarrentine, c. 4th - 3rd Century BC, depicted at the moment before she performs a twirl, wearing chiton and himation, a rolled band around her waist from which ornaments dangle. Her hair is bound in a sakkos and tied with a tasseled ribbon with flowers at the center, coiled bun at the nape of her neck. H: 10 3/4 in (27.3 cm). Well-preserved with remnants of original slip and pigments beneath earthen deposits. Ex Rice Collection, Southern California
