Description
A charming Greek Apulian red-figure lekanis, Magnia Graecia, 4th Century BC, the lid beautifully painted with ladies of fashion, their heads in profile, with stylized palmettes in between. The top of the handle is decorated with rays within a black circle and vertical tongues around the edges of the lid. H: 4 in (10.2 cm); Dia: 3 1/2 in (8.9 cm). Well-preserved and a very handsome example! Ex Harmer Rooke, NY, (Jan 1991), Lot 74.
