Description
An Egyptian wood mummy 'mask', 3rd Intermediate Period, c. 1975 - 712 BC, the facial portion for the lid of a sarcophagus, fastened to the lid by wooden dowels. It is nicely carved with well-defined features and retains part of the headdress. 7 3/8 in x 5 1/8 in (18.7 x 12.8 cm). A pleasing example with much remaining original pigment. Ex Colosseum Coin Exchange Sale, (March 1981).
