Description
An Egyptian wood panel with painted cartouche, c. 1200 - 332 BC, with several partial hieroglyphic characters visible in red, blue, green, black and white. The back side also with remnants of gesso and pigment, the edges with holes for wood dowels. The piece is slightly curved and part or perhaps a sarcophagus or other kind of funerary furniture. L: 8 1/8 in (20.6cm). Ex collection of William Major Tedder.
