Decorative copy made by the Munich painter Adolf Nauer after the painting 'Le Déjeuner de Chasse' (1723) of François Lemoyne, which is in the collection of the Museu de Arte de São Paulo in Brazil today
Condition:
The painting is in good condition. The varnish has darkened and there is tiny craquelure overall. Edges and corners show rubbed spots due to the frame and there is a tear (c. 3 cm) lower left and tiny retouched spots are mainly in the sky. The frame shows usual signs of age and wear as well as small tears and spot with loss of material at the outer left edge. The dimensions are 168.5 x 148.5 cm and the frame measures 188 x 168.5 cm.
Adolf Nauer (1893-1966)
Adolf Nauer was a Munich painter of the 20th century focusing on genre subjects. The oeuvre of the artist shows primarily circle of gentlemen based in rural hostelries and sitting rooms, its protagonists are merchants, cardinals, card players and art dealers. Stylistically Nauer´s art is characterized by the traditional way of painting of the 19th century. (msc)
