A scarce German annual, this volume dealing with the United States and Canada. Illustrations include a frontispiece portrait of Micochlucco; view of the Mission at Monterey, California; a basalt formation near Monterey; a plate showing two native Californians; two botanical plates, etc. The plan of Washington, D.C., is early and notable, and the map of North America quite attractive and interesting. It depicts a large and undefined Quivira. Zimmerman was a German professor who wrote an earlier two-volume work [1795-99] comparing France and the United States that was quite influential in shaping European opinion with regard to the United States.

Boards rubbed; stain to top corners of about two thirds of the pages, but while present on the frontispiece and title page, it diminishes quickly after that so is confined to the margins; very good.
