ENGLISH AMERICAN HISTORICAL CERAMIC MINIATURE CUP AND SAUCER, having blue transfer-printed design of log cabin and star pattern on inside of saucer and both interior and exterior of cup made for the presidential campaign of William Henry Harrison. Blue transfer on bottom of saucer reads "Columbian Star / Oct 28th 1840 / Jno Ridgway". John Ridgway, Staffordshire, England. Circa 1840. Cup 1 13/16" H, Saucer 4" D.
Minute flake on foot rim of saucer and two minute flakes on exterior rim of cup, otherwise undamaged.
Provenance: Property from the collection of Robert and Patsy Hassert, Strasburg, VA.
Catalogue Note: William Henry Harrison was born at Berkeley Plantation in Virginia, was the son of Benjamin Harrison, a signer of the Declaration of Independence, and a governor of Virginia.
