Description
Near East, Phoenician, ca. 1st millennium BCE. This is a small bronze ointment or libation vessel. It is shaped like an amphora, with a deep, tapering shape and a flattened rim. The base is pointed and there are two protrusions on the shoulder, probably for suspension, but also mimicking the style of a larger amphora with handles. Size: 3.5" H (8.9 cm)
Provenance: Ex-private New York collection, acquired in 1980s.
