Description
These are newly discovered works by listed artist Josephine Hutson Graham (1915-1999) who frequently signed her work “Josus” (a name her grandmother gave her). This is a double sided, oil on board in a heavy wood frame with iron accent brackets. All three (Lot 31, 32, and 33) were found in a basement of an old structure in Westchester County, New York. They inner measurements on all are 25 inches wide by 45 inches tall (approximate). The outer measurements are 28 inches wide, and 48 inches tall. The first side is a full frontal of a man in a suit and hat, bearing a striking resemblance to Al Capone. This side is signed. The reverse side shows a jockey on a horse. The jockey is waving atop the horse and the horse has a winner’s wreath. This side is not signed. The paintings are in very good condition but do require a cleaning as would expected.
