Description
This officer's helmet is set with a large, medallion-like decoration with the phrase "Honi Soit Qui Mal Y Pense," which translates to "Shame to whosoever thinks badly of it." It is surrounded by a wreath of oak and laurel leaves and topped by the St. Edward's Crown of Queen Elizabeth. Gilded rosettes and a velvet backed, gilded curb chain are found on the sides. A silver and gilt stem hold a red horsehair plume.

History: The Royal Horse Guards and 1st Dragoons is the only British regiment to be known officially by their nickname, the Blues and Royals. They were assembled in 1969 as an amalgamation between the Royal Horse Guards, aka "The Oxford Blues," and the Royal Dragoons, "The Royals." Up from their formation to the present day, the Blues and Royals have served in various operations including the recent Iraq War and the War in Afghanistan.
