Description
Pre-Columbian, South Coast Peru, Huari / Wari culture, ca. 700 to 1000 CE. A striking mold-made terracotta Huari/Wari warrior figure showing Moche influences, and donning a strapped helmet that frames his boldly delineated visage with almond-shaped eyes, a projecting nose, a full-lipped, closed mouth, and large ears, standing with hands across the abdominal region and facing forward. In addition to the headdress, a double strand pectoral adorns his presence. Slipped with red and orange, facial details highlighted with black pigment, and laterally perforated at shoulders for attachment and/or suspension. A strong example. Size: 4.25" W x 6.25" H (10.8 cm x 15.9 cm)
