Maya Yucatan tripod plate from Mexico, ca. 600-900 A.D. Depicting a seated priest, wearing an elaborate feathered headdress and holding a snake in the air. This piece was originally sold by Davis Stuart Gallery, a well known L.A. dealer mid-last century and more importantly, was bought and owned by the Actor Vincent Price and his wife Mary. This was not from the Sears catalog or Vincent Price Museum, but rather comes from the Price personal collection. 6 old collection tags on the back.
