A Rare Tlatilco Pottery Mask
c. 1100 - 900 BC
c. 1100 - 900 BC
A rare published pottery mask, possibly made for use as a burial face cover. This fine depiction of a male face features a strong forehead line meeting at the bridge of a thick nose, almond shaped eyes with open pupils, and thick, parted lips exposing the top row of teeth.

Condition
In overall excellent condition. One superficial crack, approx. 1 1/2" in length, above the proper left ear --apparent mostly on the interior. No apparent restoration.
