Description
Rome, Roman Imperial, ca. late 2nd / early 3rd century CE. From a corner of a sarcophagus lid, in the form of a man’s head, his deeply drilled locks falling in waves around his face, with large eyes and slightly gnarled brow, slightly agape mouth. Size: 7.88"H x 7.88"W x 6.3" depth (20cm x 20cm x 16cm).
Provenance: Ex-private Sismann Collection, France acquired on the French Art Market prior to 1970.
