Oliver Wolcott Jr. (1760-1833) was United States Secretary of the Treasury from 1795 to 1800 and the 24th Governor of Connecticut from 1817 to 1827. As Sec. of the Treasury he was preceded by Alexander Hamilton. In 1799, as Secretary of the Treasury, he designed the United States Customs Service flag. Offered here is his autograph signature which has been removed from some larger document. Approx. 4.5 x 2.5 in. Aged appearance, darker toning along right side.
