Northern Europe, Viking, ca. 9th to 12th centuries CE. A stunning silver torque (choker / necklace) comprised of two heavy silver wires twisted and hammered to create a rope pattern, the terminals shaped into a sinuous openwork design that resolves in opposing loops. A petite size intended for a dainty woman or perhaps a child. A lovely finish with areas of brilliant turquoise patina.
