Description
Northern Europe, Viking, ca. 9th to 12th centuries CE. A stunning silver torque (choker/necklace) comprised of two heavy silver wires twisted and hammered to create a rope pattern, with one terminals shaped into a sinuous openwork loop. A petite size intended for a child or perhaps a dainty woman. A lovely finish with areas of brilliant turquoise patina. Size: 12" L x 3.75" across from left to right ends (30.5 cm x 9.5 cm)
Provenance: Ex-private New Jersey collection formed between 1960 and 1985

Condition
Old loss to one terminus. Otherwise excellent. Normal oxidation has produced areas of brilliant blue-green patina.
