Item Details
Description
Italy, Apulia / Daunian, ca. 300 BCE. This is a beautiful example of an oinochoe, a pouring vessel, with a narrow strap handle and a trefoil rim. The body is decorated with red and black linear designs. An item like this was made to hold wine, and could have been placed in a tomb to hold libations, which is how it has come to us so intact. Size: 6.6" W x 7.75" H (16.8 cm x 19.7 cm)
