Description
Magna Graecia, South Italic Colonies, Apulia, ca. 340 to 325 BCE. A wonderful wheel-thrown pottery oinochoe with an applied ring foot, an egg-shaped body, a corseted neck, a trefoil-style pouring spout, and an attached handle joining neck to shoulder. The black-glazed vessel is decorated in red-figure with the head of a youthful satyr with piercing eyes, a petite nose, and a coiffure of shaggy hair, all presented between a pair of fragmentary palmettes and below a dotted border. Size: 2.7" in diameter x 4.375" H (6.9 cm x 11.1 cm)

Repair and restoration to spout and handle. Chip to rim. A few minor nicks. Otherwise, excellent with nice remaining pigments.
