Description
ENGLISH PEARLWARE CERAMIC MUGS, LOT OF TWO, straight-sided with polychrome designs, one having a blue rim and base with a transfer design reading "The Maltster doth crave / His Money to have; The Distiller says have it he must: / By this you may see / How the case stands with me / So I pray don’t ask me to trust"; the other painted with floral decorations along the rim with several sprays on the sides, and a brown line at rim and base. One having an underglaze brown "x", otherwise unmarked. Staffordshire and other areas. Circa 1810. 4 11/16" to 4 13/16" H.
Both having a hairline crack at rim, one having several flakes and some roughness along the rim.
