AMERICAN OR BRITISH SCHOOL (19TH CENTURY) FOLK ART SCHOOLGIRL DRAWING, watercolor and ink on paper, vibrant depiction of a flower with possible stenciled elements, verse titled "Hope" below, inscribed "Painted in 1832" in later hand verso. Housed under glass in a 19th century molded giltwood frame. Together with a 19th century watercolor and pencil on paper floral drawing, housed under glass in a 19th century giltwood frame. Two pieces total. Second quarter 19th century. Hope drawing 7 1/8" x 5 1/4" sight, 8 3/4" x 6 3/4" OA.
Paper with light overall toning and minor areas of foxing/discoloration. Frame with minor wear and area of discoloration. Not examined out of frame.
