Description
Pre-Columbian, Huari (Wari), central coast of Peru, ca. 400 to 600 CE. This is a polychrome pottery doll with a strong, painted surface. It has a striped face (tattoos/scarification?), wears a belt, and has its hands on its stomach. Its face is open and friendly. Size: 4" W x 6.75" H (10.2 cm x 17.1 cm).
Provenance: Ex-NYC Park Avenue Collector Shillo Adir, acquired 1970s.
