Description
Cyprus, Levant Iron Age II, ca. 900 BCE. This is a gorgeous terracotta amphora with its designs in beautiful condition - a tan slip with delicate black designs of concentric circles and linear bands around the gody. Twin handles form half-circles from the shoulders. The rim and foot are slightly emphasized. Cyprus, situated roughly 60 miles (100 km) by sea from the coast of Syria, was well-situated to export their goods throughout the Mediterranean and Near East; pottery like this was created with the export market in mind. Size: 7.25" W x 10.5" H (18.4 cm x 26.7 cm)
