A large Fabergé silver kovsh, Moscow, circa 1895. With original Fabergé scratched inventory number 4970. The ogee-shaped handle cast and chased with a figure of Alkonost, a mythical chimeric winged woman who sings songs of joy, on a strap-work ground within rope-twist borders, the prow engraved with the Latin initials "JSH" and dated March 1, 1895 in German. Weight: 850 grams. Length 13 1/2 in. (34.3 cm).
