Description
This c.1830 eglomise panel reverse painting on glass depicting Mount Vernon, painted by Moberg. Dimensions: H32 5/8"x W 10" x D 4" Condition: It is currently in good running condition and keeps accurate time on an eight day wind. Re-gilded and eglomise painting restored. Note: John Sawin was born in Roxbury, Massachusetts in 1799 and apprenticed to his uncle master clockmaker Aaron Willard and then a journeyman to Willard's son, Aaron Willard Jr. In 1822 Sawin formed his own partnership with G eorge W. Dyar as Sawin & Dyar. This lasted until 1827 and then Sawin continued to work on his own, making banjo clocks, tower clocks and shelf clocks.
