Issac Celnikier (1924-2011) was a Holocaust survivor and painter from Warsaw, Poland. Celnikier’s works are heavily influenced by his experiences at the Auschwitz concentration camp. After the war, he studied art in Prague, and then settled down in Paris. In 1967, he was recognized by the French Government as a Chevalier des Arts et des Lettres (Cavalier of the Arts). A world traveler, Celinkier adopted several art styles over his lifetime, including paintings, watercolors, drawings, and etchings. He will be remembered as the artist who gave life to what he couldn’t forget, and what we all must forever remember.
