Pre-Columbian, Peru, Chimu, ca. 1100 to 1470 CE. This is a really striking blackware vessel in the form of a seated monkey, with a curled tail on the back and a tall spout extending out of his head. He sits with his paws clenched together on his lap and has pierced ears and a piquant face with long nose and toothy grin. Size: 4.5" W x 9.25" H (11.4 cm x 23.5 cm)
