Molod’ — na lizhi! [Young People — Take to Skiing!], a Ukrainian-language poster by Georgy Bakhmutov (1914-2012, Meritorious Artist of Ukraine). Published by Iskusstvo, Moscow, 1950, 57 x 82.5 cm.
Bakhmutov lived in Ukraine, but had many tied to Moscow. A graduate of Moscow Art Institute (class of 1937), he served as a military artist during the war, and for several years after that was the Chief Artist of the Soviet Officers Club in Vienna. Finally returning to civil life after the war, he turned to poster production. He also exhibited his easel graphics and paintings, and was involved in some notable monumentalist projects.
