Description
Ancient Near East, Iran, Luristan culture, ca. 1000 to 600 BCE. This is a really beautiful item, a cast bronze kohl jar in the form of a cylinder with jutting female features; the rim is wide, flat, and flaring, from a thin opening that was designed to prevent evaporation of precious liquids. The body includes incised designs that give it texture, including on the rim, and crosshatching on the back. Size: 1.6" W x 5" H (4.1 cm x 12.7 cm)
