Description
It sure feels like the real deal: a 16th century scene of two smokers loading their pipes. If not, and it’s probably not, it’s a very old copy, 19th century. Is it Dutch? Dutch school. And these were very popular in the 19th century. As was the oil on tin technique. And the 16th century subject matter. Certainly they’re a couple of characters. Maybe not downright villains, but I’d watch myself in a business deal with these two. The signature is tough to decipher. Quite small, almost a miniature. Pretty exquisite.
