Description
Terracotta with painting. China, Tang Dynasty (618 - 905)
A subtle, arched body defines this erectly standing court lady, both feet are placed to the side and shoe tips decorated with big, three-dimensional blossoms. Scattered blossoms in two colors (red and green) overall on the floor-length, two-part garments. Both hands are raised in gesture – as if in conversation – with graceful fingers. Full-cheeked face with little mouth, finest slit eyes and red forehead mark. The characterful appearance elevates the double, laterally falling hair buns, called woduo-shuangji. The figurine stands on a flat plate, generous remains of cold painting, completely preserved original condition.
