Description
1st item: : World War II era service flag, red field with white canton having 38 stars. 2 stars are cut and embroidered. Different color, size and shape of stars suggests some were added over a period of time. Service flags were hung to indicate the number of family members fighting in the war; the large number of stars on this flag suggests it may have been made for an American business rather than a home. Approximately 3' x 5'. 2nd item: 44 star American national flag, machine sewn. Approximate size: 3'10" x 6'8". Circa 1895. Provenance: ex-Henry Fredette collection. 3rd Item: Wool pennant flag with insignia of powder horn, bugle and flaming torch surrounded by thirteen stars, possibly an Armed Forces Reserve pennant. Machine stitching. Approximately 6' long. (Additional high-resolution photos are available at www.caseantiques.com)
