Description
From the Duke Ellington Collection, assorted documents pertaining to the composition, "I'm Beginning To See the Light," co-composed by Duke Ellington, Harry James, Johnny Hodges and Don George. Lot includes two published sheet music booklets, three copyright renewal notices (one original, two photocopies), one certificate of copyright renewal, a letter addressed to Duke regarding the copyright from the American Guild of Authors and Composers, and three versions of the copyright agreement, all three of which bear the original signatures of not only Duke Ellington, but also his son, Mercer Ellington, his wife, Edna Ellington, and his sister, Ruth Ellington (then, Ruth James).
Condition
All the copyright agreements have several rust residue stains from staples. The copyright renewal notices have rust residue from a paperclip. Correspondence dated June 6, 1972 has a rusty paperclip attached and residue stains.
