Description
Italian, late 19th/ early 20th century. A parcel gilt and marbled carved wood tabletop vitrine mimicking the appearance of bronze mounted tortoise shell boulle, the case of rectangular form with stepped in arched top bearing three torch urns to crest with the center one issuing two acanthus scrolls, the two glass mounted side walls bearing gilt edged windows, the hinged front door with arched window adorned with acanthus leaf crest and rocaille decoration at base, and the rounded case corners with further gilded decoration. Approximate height 27.375", width 16", depth 10.25".
Condition
Structurally sound. Cresting with areas of loss, chipping and traces of old glue residue (see image #7). Catch for locking mechanism is missing. Glass with very minor scattered surface scratches, if any. Glass shelf insert may have been hand cut. Some chipping to feet. Surface with minor chips, nicks commensurate with age and usage.
