Clearly marked "Hawks & Ogilvy, NY" on the head plate is this incredibly rare and early Kentucky style reel with face mounted ebonite click & drag buttons and sideplates married with nicely contrasting German silver fittings. Intricate knurling and decorative turnings also add greatly to this reels eye appeal. Likely the work of Frederick vom Hofe, this is a true collectors gem with a gracefully sculpted reverse counter balanced "S" handle, full length unaltered foot, clean side plates without cracks, nicks or scratches and still in original uncleaned condition with a beautiful luster. Impressive in every way and in solid Excellent condition.
