The Lady Amherst fly, closely associated with the large salmon of Qubec's Grand Cascapedia was invented in 1925 by George B. Bonbright who at one time also owned and fished this reel. This is Bonbright's personal size number 1 model 360 Perfection reel. Measuring 2 7/8" in overall diameter with a 1" wide spool and set for right hand wind this reel is in Very Good plus condition. An early model with sliding oil port cap marking of "Edw vom Hofe, NY, Pat. Jan., 23, 83", and a 5 position face mounted adjustable drag with rotating pointer, it also comes with shouldered pillars, aluminum spool, German silver safety rims, "S" handle and rear mounted sliding click button. Both rubber sideplates are free of chips and cracks and show moderate usage wear. The back plate is engraved "PIMLICO", and the front plate is engraved "GDB Bonbright, Rochester, NY". The metal components are clean and free of damage including the aluminum foot which is marked model "360", size "1" (no serial #) and is full length and unaltered. Also comes with a snug fitting leather case in Excellent condition with Bonbright's name in fancy script on top and marked "William Mills & Son, New York" with Mills famous fish logo and a full buckle strap.
