Description
Rome, ca. 2nd century BCE to 4th century CE. This is a finely formed fish hook with a deep green patina and no encrustations. Its barbed tip is evident. Fish was the most important part of the Roman diet for centuries; perhaps their most famous food item, garum, is a fermented fish paste that was used as a sauce. Size: 2.45" L x 1.4" W (6.2 cm x 3.6 cm).
