Description
Roman Empire, ca. 2nd to 3rd century CE. A delicate dark green glass vessel with areas of golden rainbow irridescence and a handsomely delineated face on each side. The tubular neck with purple hues extends to a splayed lip with an infolded rim. The mold is finely realized and represents a slightly chubby countenance of a young boy, perhaps Dionysos, as the visage appears to be crowned by an ivy wreath. Size: 2-3/8" (6 cm).
