Sutherland, William P. Jr. (American 20th Century) “Dream Painting.” Oil painting on canvas. In good condition. Signed and titled on back in pencil. Measures 14” x 12”. Unframed.
From Askart.com: Born in Scotland on March 5, 1846, William Sutherland moved to San Francisco as a young man and was apprenticed there to lithographer George Jay. As a member of the Corinthian Yacht Club, he painted several ship portraits for other members; the Ghirardelli family were also among his patrons. Most of his landscapes of Marin County and the East Bay were lost in the 1906 earthquake, as well as his fortune. He died in Marin County, CA on Jan. 24, 1926.
