Hyde Solomon lived in New York and Israel and is known for abstract landscape and figure painting. Solomon was an important second generation Abstract Expressionist. He is known for his bold color usage and impasto application of paint with broad, loose strokes. His work often straddles the line between landscape and abstraction. Solomon studied at the Art Students League, Columbia University, and the Pratt Institute. His work is in the Whitney Museum of American Art, the Wadsworth Atheneum, and other important institutions.
