Hyde Solomon (American, 1911-1982), Coastal Afterglow

Hyde Solomon was a New York born abstract painter with an impressive CV. He studied at the Art Students League and Pratt Institute. In 1949, he was one of the founding members of the influential artists' cooperative, The Jane Street Gallery in Greenwich. And from 1959 until 1962, Solomon was an artist-in-residence for four years at Princeton University.

Solomon moved to Taos, New Mexico in 1972. Here he continued his transcendental paintings of landscapes and skyscapes. His paintings were included in a solo exhibition at the Museum of Fine Arts, Santa Fe and a group exhibition at the Whitney Museum of Art, New York.
