Description
KPM (German, founded 1763). A very fine and large hand painted porcelain plaque depicting a single male, likely a member of German nobility, wearing green and red cloak and fur pelt, his long curly blonde hair covered by a red cap bordered in gold with jewels at front and adorned with feathers, the figure presented in profile on a dark background. Impressed mark to verso of plaque "KPM" under a straight vertical line. Label to verso of frame for Knowles Gallery of La Jolla, California. Framed approximately 14.375" x 13.25". Plaque approximately 7.75" x 6.625". Provenance: From the Estate of Mary L. Haugk, Lawrenceville, Georgia.
