TUKIKI MANOMIE (Canadian/Inuit b. 1952) A SERPENTINE SCULPTURE, "Bird Spirit," 1989, carved in the form of a metamorphic three headed creature, the central head in the likeness of a bird with a prominent beak, the head to the bird's left resembling the head of a bear, to the bird's right resembling the head of a sea lion, the whole supported by two webbed feet, one with incised artist's signature. Height: 10 1/2" Width: 17" Depth: 8 1/2" Provenance: Inuit Galerie, Mannheim, Germany, June 1989 exhibition featuring both Tukiki Manomie and Pudlo Pudlat's works. Purchased from Inuit Galerie, Mannheim, Germany, May 1989, and accompanied by original receipt of purchase. Also accompanied by an Inuit Kunst 1989 exhibition brochure spotlighting this sculpture on the cover and a 1989 Polaroid photograph of Tukiki Manomie holding "Bird Spirit" in Darmstadt, German.
Condition
The serpentine sculpture in excellent condition, with no apparent cracks, chips, or repairs. Carved with regards to the natural stone formation.
