A COLLECTION OF FOUR CANADIAN INUIT SCULPTURES, CAPE DORSET, SECOND HALF 20TH CENTURY, comprising a black stone sculpture, "Man Holding Two Fish on Line," by Charlie "Alakarialak" Inukpuk (Canadian/Inuit b. 1941), Cape Dorset, circa 1975, reversing to an underside dated [19]75 alongside copyright symbol, numbered "5-28502" and signed in syllabics, affixed with a Canadian Eskimo Art authentication tag, height: 8 3/4"; a serpentine sculpture, "Bird Spirit," by Kaka "Qaqaq" Ashoona (Canadian/Inuit 1928-1996), Cape Dorset, circa 1970, with base signed in syllabics, length: 15"; a serpentine sculpture, "Robbe and Maske," by Pauloosie Joanassie (Canadian/Inuit b. 1962), Cape Dorset, circa 1990, in the form of a walrus transformation featuring a human mask, base signed in syllabics, height: 7"; accompanied by a serpentine sculpture "Standing Bear," mounted on an oval base, height: 5". Provenance: "Robbe & Maske" by Pauloosie Joanassie purchased from Inuit Galerie, Mannheim, Germany, 27 June 1990, and accompanied by original receipt of purchase. "Man Holding Two Fish on Line" by Charlie "Alakarialak" Inukpuk is also accompanied by original receipt of purchase.
Condition
Each sculpture in excellent condition. Each carved with regards to the natural stone formation. "Robbe & Maske" by Pauloosie Joanassie has repaired hairline crack on top fin and walrus lacking tusks.
