Dickens, Charles. Dombey and Son. London: Bradbury and Evans, 1848. 8vo. First one volume edition, though bound into two. [iii - xi], xii-xvi, 624, [2] pp. + 40 plates including frontis and engraved title. 12-line errata slip tipped in at rear of first volume, and 6-line errata leaf at end. Note the title-page is bound into the second volume and the half-title is misbound. Period green 1/2 calf, rebacked with spines laid on (original spines with chips to head), moderate edgewear, plates foxed/toned as usual. Good. ******************* First edition with the following points: Cuttle's hook erroneously drawn on his left arm; p. xv, no page for the frontispiece and vignette and no quotation marks around "the Party"; p. 14, ten lines up, "aint" lacks apostrophe; p.26, line 11 has "fidgetty"; on p.40, "shewed" and "shew" instead of "showed" and "show"; p. 284, fifth and sixth lines from the bottom, "Delight" instead of "Joy"; p.582, the last line has no full stop; "Capatin" on p. 324.
