Helen Hatch Means (American (Alabama/Georgia), 1933-2014), "Courtly Procession", oil on canvas, signed lower left. Figural painting depicting a group of Chinese courtly figures in a mountainous landscape setting. Seated woman in light blue rides in carved primitive chariot they arrive to their destination, man in light green puts down the front of the vehicle. Woman greeted by man in gold robes with stylized clouds, man with decorated banner screen and courtly woman's attendant behind carriage. Two younger figures at left, boy holding pink lotus flower, girl with tea on top of garden seat beside cat under flying butterfly. Foreground at bottom left with deer and seated cat. Framed approximately 44" x 56". Unframed approximately 40" x 51.75". Provenance: From the Estate of Sam & Florence Inman, Atlanta, Georgia.
