Description
Pre-Columbian, Mayan Territories, Ulua Valley, Honduras, ca. 550-850 CE. Brightly decorated two-handled jar with repeating panels of abstract glyphoids that have a rodent-like shape. The rim and shoulder are decorated with lords with elaborate headdresses. There are step and geometric patterns above and snakes around the rim. Size: 6 3/4" H x 7 1/2" diameter (17.1 cm x 19 cm).
Provenance: Ex-private Olan collection, California, by family descent, acquired 1960 to 1970.
